Ford Everest Titanium now available with off-road 18in wheel option

Enhanced off-road ability is now available for the Ford Everest Titanium, thanks to the introduction of an 18-inch wheel and tyre option for the popular seven-seat SUV.

Buyers can select an 18-inch wheel size with taller side-profile tyres for improved off-road ability, while still enjoying the luxury of the flagship variant. This is a downsize from the standard 20-inch wheels fitted to the Titanium but it is a no-cost option to go for the 18-inch items. The package includes an 18-inch alloy spare as well. Speaking about the new option, Ford Australia president and CEO, Graeme Whickman, said:

“The Everest has been awarded for its off-road capability, and many of our customers have and do take full advantage of this. We’ve responded to this call, and we’re pleased to offer greater choice for Everest customers.”

Going for the 18-inch wheel option isn’t simply a quick change over. Engineers have had to retune the suspension and reconfigure the driver assistance technology to make sure it is all optimised for the change.

In other areas the Everest continues to boast 800mm of water wading ability, with 225mm of ground clearance and a locking rear differential. There’s also tyre pressure monitoring and Terrain Management System, with a 3000kg towing capacity.

The Ford Everest is one of many hardcore off-roaders in the seven-seat SUV segment, competing with the Isuzu MU-X, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and the Toyota Fortuner. The Holden Trailblazer is also part of the group. In Australia the Everest is currently the 12th best-seller in the large over $70,000 SUV segment (August VFACTS).

Ford says the option is available through dealerships now. Pricing for the entire range starts from the following (without on-roads):
