The 2021 Genesis G80 has been revealed, with a much stronger and more elegant design language for the Kroean BMW 5 Series rival.
Due to hit local shores in the second half of this year, the 2020 Genesis G80 will sit above the mid-sized G70 in the brand’s line-up .
A coupe-esque roofline and clean uncluttered lines are standout features, as described by the Senior Vice President of Genesis Design, Sang Yup Lee:
“A relationship begins at first sight. The distinctive “two lines” signature of the Quadlamps presents a clear and unique Genesis identity within seconds.
No matter what body type, sedan or SUV, the Quadlamps and Athletic Elegance design language present a distinctive brand identity, and this will enable Genesis to offer a fresh alternative within the existing luxury space.”
The interior features a 14.5-inch infotainment system, with modern accoutrements and design motifs first seen on the GV80 SUV.
Mechanically, it utilises an all-new platform and could use the aforementioned SUV’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, which generates 224kW, as well as a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel straight-six, producing 204kW and 589Nm.
A comprehensive active safety assistance system will be part of the package too, which is a pre-requisite for competing in this class. We will bring you more information as it comes to light.
