2019 Ferrari 488 Pista leaked before official debut- 530kW engine

The track-focused, hardcore flagship to the Ferrari 488 GTB has been leaked on Ferrari Chat forum, the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista.

The more serious sibling to the 488 GTB is effectively a successor to the 458 Speciale, albeit no longer naturally aspirated. It uses a version of the GTB’s 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8, but power is wound up from 492kW to a nail-biting 530kW, while torque swells to a Hurculean 770Nm.

From the images, we can glean that it has some rather significant differences in terms of aerodynamics and ventilation. Sharper front edges on the front spoiler lead to much larger air vents, with a dip in the bonnet to direct more airflow over the front of the vehicle and potentially into the larger engine vents. Huge, spidery alloys and licorice-thin racing tyres are apparent, as well as a LaFerrari style rear diffuser and tail lamp combination.

The real interesting part is the performance, and the 488 Pista covers 0-100km/h in a frankly ridiculous 2.8-seconds, which is an improvement of 0.2-seconds. Top speed is 340km/h. Thanks to weight reduction, the car is 90kg easier on the scales than the 488 GTB. Looking at the interior, we can only glean so much but full details will be revealed in coming days.

The name ‘Pista’ might strike English speakers as unusual, but it is actually the Italian word for ‘track.’ The car will rival the likes of Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the McLaren Senna.
