2018 Suzuki Swift Sport confirmed for Australia

Affordable hot hatch fans rejoice. The 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport is definitely coming to Australia, the local outpost today confirmed.

Revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Suzuki Swift Sport, the little firecracker is lighter than its rivals and the only one under the one tonne mark, at 970kg.

The Swift Sport is powered by a 104kW, 230Nm 1.4-litre ‘Boosterjet’ turbocharged engine, channeled through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. It was featured in our Top 10 best light cars coming in 2018-2019. Other distinguishing features include a more aggressive front clip and body kit. Suzuki chief engineer, Masao Kobori proclaimed:

“With the third generation we’ve moved the game on to the next level as a genuine hot hatch. And I’m confident that when you drive it you’re going to go ‘WOW!’.”

Newly-appointed Suzuki Australia general manager, Micahel Pachota added:

“Similar to the legend status of our famed Swift GTi, Sport has developed a global cult following with the first two generations. Venturing down the path of trying to top that is no easy task but that is exactly what we’ve done with the all new Swift Sport. The level of performance, tech, safety, and style is unparalleled and we are counting down the weeks until it hits our shores.”

The Swift Sport hits our shores in the first quarter of 2018.
