All-new 2019 Kia Cerato officially on sale in Australia from $19,990

The all-new 2019 Kia Cerato is now on sale in Australia, with prices and specifications revealed for the highly-important small car competitor.

Drawing on the sporty Stinger sports sedan for inspiration, the new Cerato has a sharper appearance, with value and warranty still part of the killer-punch combo that makes it stand out from the crowd. Starting from $19,990 with the S, all Ceratos are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 112kW and 192Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Other markets have a CVT automatic available, but a six-speed unit was deemed more suitable here. Official fuel economy is rated at 7.6 and 7.4L/100km for manual and auto respectively.

The new Cerato is larger, with 4mm extra headroom, 3mm additional legroom and 10mm extra shoulder space in the rear. The bootspace has grown from 482 litres to 502L, with a more generous opening for loading items in and out with more ease.

Cerato S comes with an 8.0-inch touch screen standard, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six speaker stereo, to which Sport and Sport+ add satnav and SUNA live traffic updates. Sport also has 17-inch alloys, leather steering wheel and shift knob, sports seats, while the flagship Spor+ adds autonomous emergency braking, leather seats, electric folding mirrors, adaptive cruise contorl, LED daytime running lights, dual zone climate control and vents for rear occupants.

Two option packs for lowest models include Option Pack 1, that includes AEB, adaptive cruise (except S manual), rear cross-traffic alert, folding mirrors and leather steering wheel on S and Sport, while Option Pack 2 includes blind sport warning and rear cross-traffic alert to Sport+.

A hatchback is expected to join the range down the track. As with all Kias, the Cerato comes standard with a seven year warranty and roadside assistance.
