Hot on the heels of the Great Wall Steed Single Cab, the 2018 LDV T60 Cab Chassis arrives to make the decision of buying an affordable pickup utility that much more difficult.
Priced from $23,990 drive-away for ABN holders in 2WD guise, or $26,990 in 4×4, the T60 cab-chassis follows its dual cab brother by providing a value-oriented but modern and safe (5 star ANCAP rating) entrant into the pointy end of the ute market.
Although the Great Wall Steed Single Cab offers a lot of standard equipment and a hearty drivetrain for its $18,990 entry point, the T60 is safer, offering six airbags as opposed to just two and a newer body design.
Thanks to a 110kW, 360Nm 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, it can also two 3.0 tonnes, as opposed to the 1600kg of the Great Wall. The 1145kg payload trails the 1198kg of the standard Steed, but the 4WD T60 cab-chassis ups the ante to 1255kg. What’s more, the 5 year, 130,000km warranty also compares favourably to the Steed.
Other standard fare includes cruise control, climate control aircon, Bluetooth phone connectivity, but the large touch screen of its dual cab relation is conspicuously absent – a single Din head unit sitting in its stead.
